Road Traffic Accident – Cork Cathedral Road

Description

Sadly, a female small dog was hit by a car this morning on Cathedral Road (towards Cork city) at around 08.00 am, probably earlier.
Location is two or three houses towards the city centre from Cathedral Road/ Mount Eden Road.

She might be about 60 cm in length, legs around 25 cm, short and straight hair,
multicoloured (white, beige, brown?), smaller/ mid-sized ears, very unsure about the breed, but similar to Corgi. Around the neck was a black (leather?) collar (around 4cm in width, no name tag immediately visible). She had a bleeding head wound on the top left (whereas the bleeding had stopped), and no life signs. There were slightly nipples visible on the belly and she was heavy for her size.

I was on my way to work and stopped at about 08.10 am to check and moved her from the road. One of the neighbours said that a white van had hit and left, someone also had called Cork City council. Shortly after, a private male person arrived (bag, gloves) claiming the dog.

I agreed with the neighbours of that area to make a post and to contact Sunbeam Vets.
